This past Friday, J. Mascis and members of Broken Social Scene joined forces to perform Dinosaur Jr. songs. It was a benefit gig for the Amma Foundation. This was my first time seeing both parties. They worked out all the songs in three days, as Kevin Drew notes after returning for the the encore. The show was great and everyone seemed to be in a happy mood. This show was loud. This show was loud, but I dont think it was as loud as other J. Mascis / Dinosaur Jr. shows. To which im fairly happy about because I didnt have any earplugs with me. With no opening act, the show began around 8.50pm and was finished just after 10.30pm.

The Black Angels are a band out of Austin, TX. They are currently on tour with Pink Mountaintops and made a stop in Toronto this past Sunday as part of the North By Northeast Festival. The show was at the legendary Horseshoe Tavern. The band took to the stage around 9.40pm and finished their set roughly 50 minutes later. It was a very good show by all means. The sound was good and the crowd was into it.
