After touring for a few weeks together, The Black Angels opened up for The Black Keys on the final night of the tour at the Agora Theater. Taking the stage just after 9.30pm, their 10 song set clocked in at just over 50 minutes. The sound in the venue tonight was great for both bands. The majority of the Angels’ songs were from their album “Passover”, but they did throw in a few new ones. Check this band out if you havent done so already.

The Black Keys took the stage around 10.45pm and played for about 72 minutes. As with the Black Angels’, the Keys were great. It was a mix of old songs from previous albums and new ones from their new album “Magic Potion”. The show was sold out, as expected, being a hometown show for the band who are from the neighbouring town of Akron. Here’s hoping for a Toronto date before they head to the UK in February.

The Decemberists were back in town in support of their new album The Crane Wife. The opener was Alasdair Roberts. In my opinion, the Kool Haus didnt do him any justice. Alasdair is more suited for a venue like Massey Hall or maybe the Phoenix. His set was good though, and the crowd seemed to enjoy it. The Decemberists took the stage around 10pm and played for almost 2 hours. Even at the back of the venue, the sound in the place was really good. The band as a whole was in good spirits throughout the show.
